CA Home +Design, October 2024, 'Fresh Air' by Abigail Stone
Architectural Digest, September 2024, 'Mother Nature' by Ariel Foxman
The outdoor areas, designed in collaboration with landscape designer Christine London, are meant to be heavily trafficked. A kitchen garden provides fresh fruits and vegetables, while a pool and firepit area are perfect for hangouts and low-key entertaining. Having produce right outside the door is reminiscent of Garner’s childhood home. She says of growing up in West Virginia, “Very early, I remember my mom saying, if you pick something right off a vine, you’re so much more likely to like it. It’s like you can taste the sunshine.”

“The most dramatic gesture of interior/exterior blurring unfolds in the lofty living room, where a massive window wall of sliding glass panes opens to the outdoors, inviting an adjacent hillside peppered with glorious California oaks into the heart of the home.”

Double Vision By Michelle Brunner
‘What’s better than one showstopping place to unwind? Two, of course! For this decked-out bi-level chill zone, Beverly Hills based landscape designer Christine London extended the interior spaces of a Los Angeles home to create exterior rooms for gatherings both large and small. The upper fireplace offers an area to convene before or after dinner, and sits adjacent to the outside kitchen and dining area, while the lower level is next to the spa and master bedroom for easy access on any night. ‘Utilizing a hillside that was previously inaccessible, the design creates interest in the level changes and gives the property diversity,’ says London. “We wanted to design areas that could expand for entertainment or be intimate and cozy, according to need.” Mission accomplished.’

A West Side Hybrid
by Kelly Vencill Sanchez
“London’s treatment of the landscape, which transitions from tailored foliage to borders of white stephanotis, hydrangeas and jasmine, and apple and oak trees, makes the outdoor areas a destination in their own right. “It was about seamlessness,” she says, “a balance between classical and contemporary and beautiful but functional living spaces.” “

Jennifer Garner and Ina have always wanted to find the time to cook together. And it just so happens to be Jennifer's birthday, so the occasion couldn't be better. The two gather vegetables in the garden before preparing kale chips and grilled Provencial swordfish.
